Worship

Risen Hope Baptist Church is a singing church. As a worship leader, it’s obviously nice to hear our congregation singing together. But as a fellow worshiper, I cannot even count the number of times my heart has been encouraged by your singing to me. I need you to sing to me. You need me and the rest of our congregation to sing to you. Here's why worship matters.

God is a relational being. He created us to be relational beings, both in relationship with Him and in relationship with each other. I believe one of the primary reasons God created us relational is for the purpose of corporate worship.

Corporate worship was created to glorify God and encourage each other. Twice we are commanded in Scripture to not only sing to God, but also to each other (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16) with Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. In the act of praising God, we are simultaneously teaching, reminding, encouraging, and challenging each other with the words we sing.

Corporate worship is a shadow of things to come. “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb’” (Revelation 7:9-10)! I cannot wait to sing with fellow believers on that day!
